If a Canadian Company was Located in the U.S.

Somethings wrong with our accounting laws. Manulife Financial Corp. is a Canadian firm, and thus it had a very bad year. If exactly the same company had been magically relocated to anywhere in the United States, it would have had an outstanding year.

- They don't treat for hep c if you drink alchohol. You have to be clean 6 mths. That's the way it is here. I don't know about transplants, but I don't think they will waste the money on someone that continues to drink alcohol.

- You need to get your primary care dr. to refer you to a gastroenterologist. If you can't afford treatment they will give you a form to fill out. Pfizer will give you the meds for free if you qualify. You still have to pay for all the blood tests & it gets expensive.

- Doug the new treatment is only 24 wks even for geno type 1's. It supposedly has a 75% cure rate.

- They didn't know what hep C was. They use to call it non A non B before they finally isolated the virus.

- If it's as expensive as the old treatment it will be very expensive $1,000-$1,200/wk. the new treatment is only 24 wks instead of 48 wks. It's like any other virus though once you have it you will always have the antibodies.
